2018 Fairy House Festival

|

If you visited Pine Banks Park this August 25th, you would’ve stepped into another world. The park was full of lively and creative fairies flitting about making crafts, listening to stories, or building houses. Thanks to Ward 5 Councilor Barbra Murphy as well as many amazing volunteers, this is the fourth year that the Fairy House Festival has taken place and it has really taken off. The amount of kids at the park this year looked almost double the amount compared to last year. Aside from face painting, story time, crafts, and live flute music, the event is also centered around a fairy house contest. Pre-made houses by both individuals and groups created for the contest were on display as part of the “Fairy House Walk.” It was wonderful to watch the kids go from fairy house to fairy house with wide eyes and exclaim to their parents or friends in excitement whenever they noticed something new. If you’ve never been to the Fairy House Festival, I recommend you go next year. Whether it’s with a little fairy of your own or just to stop by and take a look at the park transformed into fairy central, it is a uniquely magical experience.
