Winter at Pine Banks Park

|

Temperatures are in the single digits and both Malden and Melrose are covered with snow, but that doesn’t mean that Pine Banks Park doesn’t still have something to offer in this cold season! The other day when I stopped by the park and saw the snow covered trees and the way that the sun reflected beautifully on the track’s now white surface, I couldn’t help but be in awe. Perfect for natural pictures as well as photoshoots, the park is an amazing choice for a backdrop or photo-op. But pictures aside, even just to walk around and see the way that the park is transformed in the winter is remarkable. The frozen pond, the snow capped rock formations on either side of the playground, and the trails lined with white frosted trees. It’s as if you’ve stepped into another world, or even another time, and it’s hard to deny how much of a positive impact nature can have on our perspectives. Also, be on the lookout for tracks in the snow. Deer have been sighted in the park occasionally and if you’re lucky enough, you might get the chance to see one in person!

While it’s obvious that sports aren’t really an option when the fields are covered in snow, why not give snowshoeing a try? It’s a fun way to work up a sweat while still getting to be outdoors yet not falling in the snow! Or at the next snowfall, why not come down and build a few snowmen with the fresh batch of snow? Or make a few snow angels while you’re at it. 🙂 Even when there’s no snow and it’s just a bit chilly outside, take a walk through the park just for a chance to breathe in some fresh air. If you use your imagination there are tons of fun winter outdoor activities for you to give a whirl down at Pine Banks Park!
